Fake Anime Screencap/Screenshot Tutorial by wbd Fake Anime Screencap/Screenshot Tutorial by wbd
I decided to make a little tutorial about how I make my anime style screencap pictures, and here it is.

A while ago, I decided I wanted to make pics that looked exactly like a screenshot from an anime series. Trouble was, I wasn't very good at it and didn't really know how to get better. So, I went and looked at how anime (specifically, an individual frame) is made, and tried to copy the process. I watched a bunch of videos on youtube, searched google for various in-production sketches, and did a bit of reading. Based on what I learned, I made the tutorial above. It assumes you are reasonably good at working your paint program, and is entirely digital in nature. That's partly because no matter how clean I am with my pencils on paper, ugly marks show up when I scan them.

There are a bunch of good fake anime screencap/screenshot tutorials here on DA, and they are all well worth looking at. I just figured I should show my process as well, in the hopes it will help.

What program do you use? I use CSP and idk if it has a blur filter. Thank you for the tutorial!

I use Clip Studio Paint. The Gaussian Blur filter is at the top bar, under "filter"  -> "blur" -> "Gaussian blur". Experiment to see what looks best for you.

I didn't understood why did you had to blurr the character and background? In the final step I don't see any difference o.o

Blurring the background more than the character makes the character stand out more when you re-size the image. As for the character, a slight blur helps to make it look like a screencap of something in motion.

I know that this tutorial is for a imitation, but this would work just as good in an actual feature.

I've definitely thought about that, but I think it might be tricky to make a decent workflow around it.
