Beach Background Again by wbd Beach Background Again by wbd
Here's a beach background that works well in the anime style- it's a simple form that I made up for my own backgrounds to the anime-style pics I draw. Feel free to use it (see the CC license for more details) if you think it will help you, too. I've tried to make it large enough so that you can use just parts if that's all you need.

Your backgrounds always have a great painter's touch to them.

Thanks- I've got a long way to go, however! I'm glad there are so many tutorials online I can learn from.

I've been wanting to do beach pinups for a while, so I may use it then if/when I ever get to one :).

Nice!
But I better got the fisherman route... any tutorial you used or tips you may have to achieve this look?

Thanks for sharing :D

I'd like to be specific, but when it came to tutorials, I just sort of looked through a bunch of DA tutorials and tried them out. I also googled about how to paint rocks, which seemed to help me with a lot of non-rock things. Pixiv was really handy as well. I can't say any one tutorial was better, so I think the best option is to try a bunch and see which fits your way of thinking the best.

The other thing I did was look at lots of screenshots and the colors used in the background. That helped me learn a lot about how to make the different colors work together. One problem with screencaps is that the backgrounds tend to be a bit blurred. You'll want to use a slightly harder brush when your painting the background than the soft look on the screencap, or everything will look "mushy".

Aha...

That helps me.

I'll look over Pixiv then.

Thanks :D

With cold and snow back in Southwestern Ontario, I need to be inside that beach image, sunning and enjoying the ocean waters... ^^ Preferably with someone like Konomi Baba... or Shiori... or any very lovely gal out there. ^^

Yeah, a nice warm beach and some fun people to share it with would go down nicely about now.
